Visit to Texas!

I know, we are supposed to be finishing up our boat projects, but we just had to go to Texas!

My sister, Becky, was moving and needed our help. That's what family is for, right? Plus it is always a good opportunity for us to purchase boat and household goodies that we just can't find in Mexico.

Becky and Dave bought a great house, built in the late 70's, and it needed some improvements. (Yeah, Becky is going to love this picture!)

That's what the Warren family is good at! So, Mom, Dad, Phil, Danette, and Kyle all showed up to help.

Good thing, because Becky had a long list of projects - enough to keep all of us busy!

In between work, we got to visit Mom and Dad's new place in Granbury. It is a wonderful place and just suits them. They have all kinds of projects going on too, but unfortunately we weren't able to stay long enough to help out.

We did get to see some of the high points of Granbury though.

Pool and shuffleboard at the American Legion Hall - right next door - how cool is that!

Wonderful food at the Rib Shack - just bring your own cervezas.

Plus, the amazing drive-in liquor barn. Between that and the dry towns, you never know what to expect. Only in Texas!

By the time we left, Becky's place was looking marvelous.

All ready for Becky and Dave's new life together in Plano, Texas.

And all her flags are a flyin'

In preparation of our South Pacific voyage, we have been purchasing courtesy flags for all of the wonderful countries we hope to visit over the next 10 + years. Aren't they beautiful? They include exotic countries, like...

Australia, Cook Islands, Ecuador, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Galapagos, Guam, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Northern Marianas, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Western Samoa, and more...

We are thinking that we should chart our course based on the flags we own. Why not!

Join us if you can...

PS: If you heard cursing, that was me sewing! I had to reinforce the cheap flags so they won't shred to pieces the first time we fly them, but think of the money we saved. Plus, I have been sewing fender covers, sail ties, and more exciting stuff (not)!

Thanks to Fern for helping with my material shopping here in La Paz - that was quite and adventure!

Sewing sucks! I am sure my Mom and my Home Ec teacher are offended by my comment, plus knowing how badly I sew!

Long lost friends - Found!

You know what makes life fun and exciting? Reuniting with friends you haven't seen for 22+ years and realizing that time might have passed, but we are all still the same goofy kids (inside)!

Amazing timing - while in La Paz we find out that Heike, Claire, and Kris (plus Pica) are in Los Barriles (LB) and we are invited down for a visit. We have known these guys since before Doug and I were married - many moons ago!

No way are we going to miss this, so we load up the rig and head south!

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Heike and Claire have built two marvelous Casitas in LB. Kris has a beautiful Casa (with an incredible view) just out of town on Punta Pescadero.

They all love the Baja as much as we do and hope to retire there one of these days...

We had a great time riding the 4-wheelers out to Kris's place, where we spent the night and were treated to a wonderful "Dino burger" and lots of drinks. Can't beat that!

During breakfast the next morning, we had an amazing view of the whales, dolphins, and rays frolicking in the Sea. Thanks for the Fish!

We said our goodbyes and promised to get together again soon. This time, on Moondance, somewhere in the South Pacific. How cool will that be!

Hasta luego, Amigos!
